The Alliance is a group of 30 of the world’s largest investors that have committed to reducing carbon emissions in their portfolio – worth over $5 trillion in AUM – net-zero by 2050. They will issue their intermediary targets and report on progress in line with Paris Agreement Article 4.9.
The Protocol explicitly sets out how individual members will set a target, achievable in the next five years. Alliance members have used IPCC 1.5C no and low pathways to inform their targets under the Alliance 2025 Protocol, which carefully balances scientific ambition, active ownership engagement, and divestment constraints.
The Protocol, which gives unprecedented access to the public to comment on an investors target-setting approach, is open for feedback until 13 November 2020. Please provide input through the following form here. Downloadable form available here.
