Green Finance Platform welcomes AIFC Green Finance Centre as new partner

The Astanan International Financial Centre’s Green Finance Centre has joined the Green Finance Platform as a new partner in green finance knowledge.

The AIFC Green Finance Centre was created on 1 June 2018 with the aim of developing and promoting green finance in Kazakhstan and the Central Asian region. The centre provides initial assistance to potential issuers, investors and market players on preparations for the issuance of green bonds on the AIFC Exchange (Astana International Exchange). The centre also covers issuers’ expenses related to the provision of a mandatory external review of green bonds.

The main activities of the Green Finance Centre are:

  • Conducting research in the field of green finance
  • Support for the issuance of green bonds for sustainable and green projects
  • Monitoring, reporting and verification
  • Providing external reviews for green bonds
  • Capacity building in the field of green finance, including conducting seminars, trainings and presentations for stakeholders

The AIFC GFC has developed a fundamental basis for green finance in Kazakhstan, including the adoption of a concept on introduction of green finance instruments and principles and strategy of green finance leadership in Central Asia until 2025.
