The Green Finance Platform warmly welcomes the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) as a new partner in green finance knowledge.

ACCA is a global body for professional accountants with 219,000 members and 517,000 students in 179 countries. It was granted a Royal Charter in 1974 which commits it to acting in and upholding the public interest.

While ACCA’s primary purpose is professional accountancy education and learning, the scope of its activities at global level reflects the variety of topics that interest its members and students, and covers issues such as corporate reporting and audit, corporate governance and ethics, taxation, company law, digital and AI, SMEs affairs and access to finance, economic governance, public sector, sustainability and environmental accountability, education and skills and professional qualifications. ACCA is also committed to promoting the highest professional and ethical standards, and ensuring that its members meet those standards.

In this respect, ACCA activities also cover:

  • standards and ethics;
  • licensing of practitioners;
  • regulation and monitoring of statutorily reserved areas of practice;
  • quality assurance of firms and our global quality assurance initiative;
  • investigation of complaints; and
  • discipline when it comes to standards or rule breaches.

ACCA is focusing on the role of accountants in environmental and social issues as part of its ‘Power of ethics’ campaign, which includes its recent research on the importance of ESG factors in corporate value creation, as well as events and webinar series on sustainable finance and corporate reporting.  ACCA’s work on the role of the accountancy profession in the delivery of the SDGs also involves regional research projects.

The Green Finance Platform looks forward to the ongoing collaboration with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
