The Lab is a public-private initiative that identifies, develops, and launches innovative finance instruments that can drive billions to sustainable development and climate action. The Lab accelerates solutions in clean energy access, sustainable cities, water and land use, climate risk, and more, that can overcome investment barriers in the most critical regions, including in sub-Saharan Africa, India, Brazil, and other developing countries. The Lab is comprised of expert institutions and investors from government, the private sector, philanthropy, and development finance, and is funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Bloomberg Philanthropies, the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMU), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the Netherlands Ministry for Foreign Affairs, The Rockefeller Foundation, and the UK Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy. Instruments from the Lab have mobilized over 2 billion US dollars for sustainable development in developing countries in just five years. Climate Policy Initiative serves as the Lab Secretariat.
